The time has come for the Sephora VIB sale!! 20% off anything and everything if you are a VIB member.
Sephora has three levels of reward memberships and you can find the breakdown of each here. I became a VIB member just last year (you have to spend $350 in a yr) so I participated in this years VIB sale. The VIB Rogue members got to shop the sale the weekend prior, but everything I had on my wish list was in stock.
In order to save the most money I did not purchase anything from Sephora throughout the year because it would not have been on sale. And therefore I spent all $350 (threshold to become and remain a VIB member) in this one weekend. I placed all my orders online and I used a discount giftcard that I had purchased ahead of time for additional savings.
I broke up my purchases into 5 different transactions, so I would receive free shipping but also 3 free samples for each shipment (15 samples). And also I used my points I earned from the previous transaction to add on deluxe size samples to my next transaction.
I would have paid over $430 for all the products on my wish list but I received 20% off and spent $350 to reach the threshold for next year’s VIB status. In addition I saved 9% with my discount giftcard, so I saved 27% or roughly $117.
This may sound like a lot but this is my time of the year to stock up for the entire next year on makeup/skincare/haircare products. I do not shop at Sephora at any other point during the year.
I did a similar deal here at Ulta. Again it may seem like a lot but I stock up this time of year and don’t buy unless there is a sale.
Ulta is one of my favorite places to shop. I love their mix of drugstore and high end beauty products. But I love saving money too! That’s why I create a wish list of products I need / want and wait for sales. Often they have 20% off you purchase, BOGO 50% off or you can use a $3.50 off your purchase of $15 or more. And those are good deals but those promotions don’t usually qualify on “prestige” brands at Ulta (which of course are the products I want). For a list of those brands check here
So I wait..and I wait..
At the end of October the sale I have been waiting for finally came!
20% off your entire purchase prestige brands included. YESS!! I had anticipated this sale would come some time before Sephora’s VIB sale in November but I didn’t know exactly when. Even though I didn’t know the exact date I did scope out a discounted gift card a month ago in anticipation. Thanks to that I received an additional 15% off my purchase!!
The Ulta 20% off your entire purchase was for an online purchase only and the promo code came via email. Make sure you are signed up as a Ulta rewards member and receive promotions to an email address that you check often. This sale lasted for one day only!
Total purchase: $240 before discount + 20% applied = $192, additional discounted giftcard 15% off: total paid $163 (does not include taxes). Total savings 32%
There have been a few items on my wish list that past few weeks that I just cannot find in stores so I decided to make a purchase on amazon. I wasn’t able to use coupons and the cashback website didn’t work either but the items were at a relatively good price so I don’t really mind.
I purchased a bee sting mask by Nip + Fab for $9.95 and Airspun translucent powder $10.50. Both items have been mention by a beauty Youtuber that I watch and I cannot find either in my local drugstores or on Ulta’s website even though they carry other Nip + Fab products.
The other item that I purchased was a body butter from Lavanila. I had received a free sample from Sephora back in December used it up in a short time.
The smell is amazing and it feels great on my hands as well. The trial size was .85 oz and I received it free with purchase. However the full size is 6.7oz and $19 at Sephora.
That’s a lot of money compared to getting hand lotion at like Bath and Body or Victoria Secret. I’ve been watching the price on Amazon and I purchased two at $14.74 each. So I did save 22% by buying from Amazon instead of Sephora.
I drink coffee everday so I’m always on the hunt for a good deal on coffee, more specifically kcups. I went to Target twice now when they have had coffee for Buy two get one free. First I went when Starbucks was one sale but more recently I purchased three boxes of pumpkin spice coffee.
Total kcups 54, total amount paid $20, price per cup = 37 cents per kcup. Here are some other coffee savings post that I have done: Keurig, Dunkin, Book Holders
I’ve been loving trying out new skincare this year. At my recent visit to ULTA I purchased two items from the body shop as they were on sale for BOGO 50% off (which equals 25% off each product) and I used a 16% discounted giftcard as well. Savings totaled 35% off!
Michaels and AC Moore: I’ve been loving scrapbooking for years and just recently got into planners as well. I went to Michaels when planner stickers were BOGO 50% off and saved $7.
AC Moore had scrapbooking books on sale for 50% off so I saved $20 there when I purchased two!
I started to really get into skincare last fall and one of the first skincare brands I spent more money on was the Mario Badescu line that is sold at Ulta. I purchased this line because it was slightly more expensive than drugstore creams but not as expensive as some higher end skincare. To test out how I liked the line I purchased these three items:
Seaweed Night cream: the green seaweed night cream is thick, definitely a nighttime only moisturizer but it makes my skin feel very smooth afterward applying. Because it’s so thick I went used more product for each application and went through this container a lot quicker than the daily moisturizer. I thought this was a good night cream and I would repurchase this cream in the future.
Oil free moisturizer SPF 30: I use this as a morning moisturizer. It was a decent moisturizer but nothing life changing. I definitely get more excited about the serums. I have oiler skin so I’m not looking for my daily moisturizer to do a ton of work because by the end of the day my skin is oily in my T zone. This moisturizer is pretty basic and is just something to put on my skin after I use my clarisonic each morning.
Vitamin C Serum: This was the very first serum I’ve every purchased and it made me realize I never want to not use one again. I used this for 8 weeks and definitely noticed clearer skin, smaller pores, and all around more fabulous looking skin. I want to keep trying new serums because I was so impressed with the work this one did on my skin. I will be keeping this one in my rotation to come back to once I’ve sampled other serums.
In March, for one day at Ulta, the entire Mario B line was 25% off as part of a 21 day beauty sale promotion. Since I like my initial purchase so much I decided to give a few more products a try and I went ahead and purchased the Facial Spray with aloe, herb and rosewater and the hyaluronic eye cream. I already started using the rosewater spray since it’s supposed to help dry skin. It feels refreshing and it doesn’t make any of my makeup smudge. I have not tried the eye cream yet but it was rated well on Ulta’s website and had hundreds of reviews.
Savings: For my second purchase in March the entire Mario B line was 25% off at Ulta, plus I purchased a discounted gift card for 16% off. Total savings 37% !! I went to the store to purchase these items so I did not have any online cash back savings for this particular purchase.
