The time has come for the Sephora VIB sale!! 20% off anything and everything if you are a VIB member.
Sephora has three levels of reward memberships and you can find the breakdown of each here. I became a VIB member just last year (you have to spend $350 in a yr) so I participated in this years VIB sale. The VIB Rogue members got to shop the sale the weekend prior, but everything I had on my wish list was in stock.
In order to save the most money I did not purchase anything from Sephora throughout the year because it would not have been on sale. And therefore I spent all $350 (threshold to become and remain a VIB member) in this one weekend. I placed all my orders online and I used a discount giftcard that I had purchased ahead of time for additional savings.
I broke up my purchases into 5 different transactions, so I would receive free shipping but also 3 free samples for each shipment (15 samples). And also I used my points I earned from the previous transaction to add on deluxe size samples to my next transaction.
I would have paid over $430 for all the products on my wish list but I received 20% off and spent $350 to reach the threshold for next year’s VIB status. In addition I saved 9% with my discount giftcard, so I saved 27% or roughly $117.
This may sound like a lot but this is my time of the year to stock up for the entire next year on makeup/skincare/haircare products. I do not shop at Sephora at any other point during the year.
I did a similar deal here at Ulta. Again it may seem like a lot but I stock up this time of year and don’t buy unless there is a sale.
Here are some fashion & beauty pics inspired by fall…..
I just purchased this beautiful coat from Forever21…I paid full price ($60) because I know it won’t last until a sale…it’s too pretty and they only had one left in the store in my size! Can’t wait to wear it!!
These are my favorite fall scarves…the first two a purchased from Charming Charlie and the 3rd I made my self. See DIY blanket scarf post here.
Some of my favorite fall nail polish colors! I’ve collected these colors over the years..the brands range from Marc Jacobs to Ulta.
Some makeup lip colors I’ve been loving…the especially love the Milani cosmetics metallic lipsticks.
More makeup I’ve been loving for fall
This is a turquoise handbag I purchased on sale from Charming Charlie and I added a fall colored scarf for a dressier touch.
Kate Spade tote with my plaid scarf
Ulta is one of my favorite places to shop. I love their mix of drugstore and high end beauty products. But I love saving money too! That’s why I create a wish list of products I need / want and wait for sales. Often they have 20% off you purchase, BOGO 50% off or you can use a $3.50 off your purchase of $15 or more. And those are good deals but those promotions don’t usually qualify on “prestige” brands at Ulta (which of course are the products I want). For a list of those brands check here
So I wait..and I wait..
At the end of October the sale I have been waiting for finally came!
20% off your entire purchase prestige brands included. YESS!! I had anticipated this sale would come some time before Sephora’s VIB sale in November but I didn’t know exactly when. Even though I didn’t know the exact date I did scope out a discounted gift card a month ago in anticipation. Thanks to that I received an additional 15% off my purchase!!
The Ulta 20% off your entire purchase was for an online purchase only and the promo code came via email. Make sure you are signed up as a Ulta rewards member and receive promotions to an email address that you check often. This sale lasted for one day only!
Total purchase: $240 before discount + 20% applied = $192, additional discounted giftcard 15% off: total paid $163 (does not include taxes). Total savings 32%
I’ve been watching Youtube videos on like for years to get tips and tricks for applying makeup. Let me tell you every Youtuber I’ve watched uses such expensive makeup brushes! And they make you think that without these expensive brushes your makeup will not apply well. I have been using Sedona lace brushes for years but recently the foundation brush has been shedding so much that I knew it was time to replace it. Instead of going out and purchasing a $25-$40 brush I went to local TJ Maxx and Ocean state Job lot in search of some cheaper alternatives and I’m so glad I did!
At TJ Maxx I found this ibeauty brush for $7.99. It looks very similar to a Artis makeup brush that retails for over $50 for one brush. I thought for sure at the cheaper price it would feel harsh on my skin (it was in packaging so I could feel it before I purchased). I was wrong! This is so smooth to the touch! I’ve used it to apply foundation several times and it works like a dream. I’ve never heard of this brand before but I am very happy with this purchase!!
I couldn’t help but grab a makeup palltete as well from BH Cosmetics for just $9.99. The powders are going to be for highlighting, contouring and blushes. Great price for 3 different jobs. I’ve tried these and really like how they apply and wear on my skin.
At Ocean State I picked up a package of 4 brushes for just $6.99. The packing didn’t have a brand on it really but they work well for foundation and concealer application and they were less than $2 a piece.
I’m really glad I tried I all of these cheaper alternatives. I know sometimes prices are lower because the quality of the product is lower, but I lucked out and found some great items and saved loads by not buying the higher end products.
