January Savings

So far this month I’ve been trying to be good and not spend much since the bills from the holiday shopping will be rolling in. But I I did purchase some items and wanted to share my savings so far this month.

January Savingsfish oilFish Oil:   January is the month to stock up on supplements. Most are Buy One Get One FREE at drugstores. I don’t take many supplements but fish oil is one I’ve heard has good benefits and wanted to start taking on a regular basis. And YES the gummies are necessary. You can find an amazing article on the benefits of fish oil here. Mostly I’m taking it for the skincare, haircare and anti-inflammatory benefits. I bought four but only paid for two really. 50% SAVINGS

Reading: I’m catching up on some reading this month. Here are some library books I’ve borrowed. January books read

The Power and The Magic are by the same author of The Secret. Thought I’d give them a read through. Year of Yes

Year of Yes I already read and it was awesome! I highly recommend the book!!! Also I borrowed season one of Downton Abbey to watch, because I figure it’s about time. SAVINGS: 100% Freebies (all are borrowed from library)

Meal prep 1Meal prep: Lots to talk about with meal prep. Meal prepping saves me time and  money every week. Eating out is definitely something I’ve spent too much money on in the past. Meal prep requires some planning ahead but I just think about the $$ savings.  I’ve been having a fruit smoothie with protein powder every morning when I first wake up. I purchase the protein powder About Time from Vitacost. See my previous post hereBreakfast smoothie

I’ve also made chicken and white bean kale soup. I found this recipe on Pinterest and not only does it taste good but I’m hoping it helps fight off germs, everyone is catching colds this time of year. chicken soup With the leftover kale I made a kale and artichoke dip.

These biscuits I found at Ocean State Job Lot for $1.50 a bag taste amazing and went really well with my chicken soup. Food

I’ve made these super easy egg muffins. I take them to work and warm up in the microwave for a mid-morning snack. IMG_1665

Retail purchases:   I bought this beautiful handbag at my favorite store, Charming Charlie! handbag

BUT it was on sale for $24.99 + I had a $5 rewards + I used a discount gift card purchased here.

I’ve saved money by painting my nails at home. Nails IMG_1658Ulta had an email exclusive deal for Buy One Get One FREE on OPI polishes!! So glad I saw that one. Emails from retailers can be quite spamy but occasionally there are some good deals to be found if you read through. This sale was not marked in the store, you had to have gotten the email from Ulta.  Ulta nails

I went to a local store to pick up some items and found two gorgeous polishes to add to my collection.  Savings: 50%
